What's been happening around here?

-I've been working on Corey's Valentines present and it's going good so far!! Today I even wrote a rap....but more about that later!

-Last night I made these delicious fajitas with an even more delicious marinade and they were a huge hit!!
Tonight's dinner is chicken and broccoli pasta with Philadelphia Cooking Creme, the savory garlic flavor.

-Sadie has another tooth poking through, which brings her total up to 8!!

-Little Miss has also been pretty clingy these last few days and her naps have been all over the place!!

-She also got these new shoes as a gift and they are pretty cool. They are called Skidders (anyone else heard of them?) and they are non slip and let babies foot grow and move as if they are not wearing shoes.

-Speaking of her birthday, I'm working on getting the pictures up soon but have just been a little busy!!

-This weekend should be fun, we are headed to an Ontario Reign hockey game with our church. These games are usually a lot of fun cause they have a ton of audience participation!! And it will be Sadie's first hockey game. Corey is a little disappointed that her first game is not an Anaheim Ducks game but it will be ok.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Short Story link-up

Today I am linking up with Adventures of Newlyweds for the short story link up....go check it out Adventures of Newlyweds.

It was one of those days when everything seemed to go wrong................
The thick, dense fog spread like a blanket through the tree-lined woods. The girl with the red hood walked solemnly through it, on a narrow pathway, as she kicked the rocks with her feet. The man in the plaid shirt had been following her for awhile now but she didn't sense any danger. Actually, a calm and serene peace seemed to engulf her.
"This is wierd," she said aloud, taken aback by how loud her voice sounded among the quiet nature."This part of the woods hasn't seen fog since who knows when."
As she walked along, her mind went back to the conversation she had at the little coffee shop in town. The coffee shop was miles away now. The conversation was heartwrenching. She remembered the look on his face when he told her that he had to leave. It was his duty so he had to go. She can still see his outstrecthed hand layng across the table, waiting for her to put her hand in his. But most of all, she can still feel his eyes burning into her back as she stormed out of the shop, nearly knocking over the sheriff as she flew out the doors.
She can't remember though how she made it to this path and it boggles her mind why it's so foggy. She can hear the leaves crackling behind her as the man in the plaid shirt tries quietly to keep a good distance behind.
Who is he? and what does he want?, she ponders.
All of a sudden she stops dead in her tracks and thrusts her head upwards.
"Why God? Why does he have to go? Can't someone else go?" she screams at the sky. "Me and him had a plan. It was gonna be me and him, finally!"
She lowered her head and watched as a tear fell from her face and landed with a splash on the ground. She fell to her knees and let all the emotion that was inside of her come rushing out. The tears flowed out of her sad, green eyes like a river and she hit the rocky ground with her fists as hard as possible. She was too busy wrapped up in her own emotions to care about the fast approaching sounds of the man in plaids feet. All she felt was two familiar arms wrap themselves around her.
"I'm here", he said.
She turned and let herself fall into him. She loved the way she fit into him and how he smelled. The smell that she would never forget, ever.
"I know you have to go," she sobbed, "but please, don't be gone forever."
"I won't," he whispered, "I won't....."

What's your love story?

Today I am linking up with FromMrstoMama to share my love story. It is actually the perfect day as 3 years ago today, my hubby and I went on our first date, also known as Seven day to us, but more about that later. Hope you enjoy our love story and head on over to www.frommrstomama.com and link up!!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We have been together 3 years today!
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We actually first met at a church function while I was there with another guy. I sat across from Corey and the first thing he said to me was, "I'm working on my preacher's belly'. Later on that day we all headed to the beach and I guess Corey had told someone that he was gonna marry me one day. I, on the other hand, was not interested in him at all. We didn't see each other again until December, when he came to preach for my church (we lived three and a half hours from each other). My sister was actually wanting to meet him so after church I took her over to say hi. Let's just say that he was less than interested in my sis. The next day, I received a Myspace message from him asking if we could be friends and for my number. I didn't want to give it to him and ended up not responding back to him. A couple days after that I was on facebook when he messaged me and asked if I got his message on Myspace. I said yes but just hadn't responded back yet. I ended up giving him my number so we could "keep in touch" for church functions. Well that turned into us texting and talking pretty much all day and night. I guess you could say that we dated and fell in love over the phone.

On February 7, 2009, I was in my house doing laundry when Corey called me. He told me to come outside but I kept insisting that I had laundry to finish. I finally kinda caught on that he might me outside so I went outside. He came out from behind the bushes and gave me a hug. Corey had drove 3 hours just to surprise me!! It was so sweet!! He had a day planned with a movie, in which I eventually let him hold my hand, and then dinner. When we had got back from dinner we sat outside on the bed of my truck. He had brought me his blanket to keep because I was only complaining that my house was so cold. He also brought me a couple other things which added up to seven things (hence the name Seven day). Corey gave me a card explaining all Seven of the things and at the bottom he asked me to be his Valentine and I could say yes with a kiss. Yup he got a kiss out of me that night!!

The next few months were spent with three hour drives on the weekends to visit each other and lots of talking on the phone!!

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We will be married for 2 years on May 1st!
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We got married at our church and had our reception at a local rec center. My grandpa officiated the wedding, which was very important to me. It was a medium size wedding I would say, with about 150 guests.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
We have a couple. Honey, Baby, Babycakes, Sexy bear, I usually call him by his first and middle names.
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
I love that he is a man of God. I love that he can be super romantic and I love his heart and love that he has for me and Sadie.
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
His first proposal was actually in church. He had wrote on my arm with his finger, "Will you marry me?" I didn't really think he was serious at first but then I reminded he said that he would only ask me if he was serious. I kinda shook my head yes but didn't really give an answer. Later at lunch he said that he was serious and wanted an answer. I couldn't eat my lunch after that cause I was so nervous. I finally gave my answer as yes and later on that day we looked for rings online. I picked one out and we ordered it. I had to drive back home that night which was horrible.

The ring came that Friday and I made Corey drive up to my house so I could have it. We hadn't told anyone that we were engaged except for my sister. He showed up at my house and we went for walk. He kept telling me that I wasn't gonna get the ring that day and so on. When we finally made it back to my house there were rose petals all over the ground and signs saying this way and kneel here. There was blanket with rose petals and a yellow rose with the ring on it. Corey got down on one knee and said the most sweetest things and then asked me to be his wife. The rest is history!!
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
Umm well he is more of a unique gift giver but he gives me my share of flowers and chocolates.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
It depends on the day. I love the beach and sunset but we have spent many times just relaxing and cuddling on the couch, watching a movie.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
We would definitely love to travel to a different country, I want to go with him to Australia. We have also always talked about going bungee jumping but I don't know if I would actually go through with it.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
We don't have any plans right now. I'll probably make him dinner since he will be at work all day.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I asked that he would be the spontaneous gift giver that he used to be!
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Communication is huge and willing to do things for each other even when you don't really want to do them.
14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Not so motivated Monday!

After such a busy weekend of preparing for Sadie's party, having her party, church and going to a Superbowl party last night, Sadie and I are having a not-so-motivated Monday. We slept in and have decided to lounge around, hang out, nap and play, which is just what we needed after such a busy weekend. Poor Sadie bug was so exhausted after this weekend but is definitely getting her sleep in today. Her party went great and little miss made out in gifts, mostly in the clothes and shoes department. Pictures will be up soon!!

I'll leave you with a pic from last night:
Her shirt says: Shhh...I'm watching the game with Dad!

Happy Birthday Sadie!

Dear Sadie,

I can't believe you are one! Where did the time go? What happened to my little 8lb 10oz baby that I held to my chest a year ago?

You have grown up so fast and definitely no longer a baby. You are walking and "talking" and learn new things every day. You are so smart and so independent. You grasp onto to new concepts so easily and love to mimick everything you see.

You started walking this month and now you try to walk everywhere! I love watching you walk around and explore the world this way. You get such a joy out of walking across the room, or walk to try and chase the dog. You'll just giggle and laugh most of the time.

I love watching you "read" your books and point to all the things and get so excited over them. Your favorite books are the animals one definitely and you love to point to the animals and make all the noises. You also love your princess books and will have us read them over and over again. You love your books more than your toys and that is totally ok with me!!

Speaking of animals, you are obsessed with them!! You love to play with the doggie and pet the cats. Animals on tv always catch your attention, especially the Geico pig commercial. That commercial will stop you in your tracks!! It is so fuuny!!

You are such a good eating and mommy and daddy are so thankful for that!! You will eat pretty much anything that we put in front of you. If someone else is eating something, you have to try it. Your favorite foods are hot dogs, mac n cheese and bananas. BANANAS are by far your most favorite and if you see one you will say "nana" until someone gives you one! We are almost done with nursing. You only nurse in the morning and night but we will be stopping that soon. You have been on regular milk for about a month now and love it!! We had no problems at all getting you adjusted to milk.

Talking is a big favorite of yours. Some of the words you say are mama, dada, gmma(grandma), gmpa(grandpa), ash(Crash, the dog), yesh(yes), nana(banana), moo, baa, baby(baby and blankie). I am sure I'm forgetting some others.

I just still can't believe that you are a year old!! Mommy and Daddy love you so much and we are so thankful that God chose us to be your parents. We love watching you grow and play and learn. We love being able to raise you and protect you. You are such a joy to us and bring us so much happiness!!

We love you our little miss Sadie Grace!!

Love,
 Mommy and Daddy

What a difference a year makes!

This time last year, I was laying in the hospital bed awaiting the arrival of my beautiful baby girl and now tomorrow she will be a year old!!! Time goes by so much faster when you have a baby!! You can read about her birth story under the tab Birth Story at the top of the page.

Tomorrow I only have a few things planned for Sadie, as her birthday party is on Saturday. I plan on making her some pancakes in the morning and then we are gonna head off to Toys R Us so Sadie can pick out a toy. We also probably have to run a few errands to get some more things for her party. I can't believe she is gonna be one!!

I love you Sadie Bug!!

Braving the Elements....

the CRAZY WIND that is!!! This is what it looks like in good ol' Southern Cali right now:

and I just happened to pick today to go run errands with my baby girl.

So just imagine wind gust up to 20-40 miles an hour, pushing a shopping cart through a crowded parking lot, and trying to hold onto a cart so it doesn't blow down the parking lot into a car while also trying to load the groceries and baby in the car. Not the easiest thing!!

But we made it home in one piece and now my sweet baby girl is napping.
