It's in the details...

The other day I took Sadie to the little playground in our apartment and decided to snap some photos of her. As I was watching her play and looking back at the pictures, it made me realize how fast she is growing and how I want to remember all of the little details about these days.

I want to remember how the first thing you do at the playground is find a spot to sit down and pick up the woodchips and how those would keep you busy for hours.

I want to remember how you show me the ones you pick up and twirl them between your fingers and then try to eat them.

I want to remember how cute your feet look in sandals and how small they are.

I want to remember how you would pick up handfuls of woodchips and dump them on you and smile because you thought it was the funniest thing and how your legs were covered in dirt and woodchips.

I want to remember how small your hands are and how you love to explore things with them.

I want to remember how cute you look in your outfits and how curious you are about the world around you.

I want to remember how you have to try all by yourself to climb up the stairs and how you weren't scared at all.

I want to remember that when you did get a little stuck you still kept on trying and then called for me to come help you and how you stood there for a few seconds, making sure you had your balance.

I want to remember how in love with these sunglasses you are and how you have to wear them all the time, even in the house and how cool they make you look.

And last but not least, I just want to remember all the little details that make you who you are. All the facial expressions, laughs, words, movements, etc. Because time does go by so fast.......

A little DIY....Giraffe Growth Chart

I've been wanting to make Sadie a growth chart for a while now and I finally got around to making it. It was actually pretty simple to make and I am pleased with the results. All it took was some pieces of cardboard, paint and some ribbon.

Do you want to make one also?? Then follow these simple instructions:

Materials:
-Several pieces of small cardboard or one long piece of cardboard or sturdy paper, such as cardstock
-Paint (I used acrylic paints in pink and brown)
-Measuring tape
-Ribbon
-Pencils, Pens and Markers

Step 1: Measure

Decide how tall you want your growth chart to be. Mine was a little over 6ft but I only measured up to 6ft. Take your measuring tape and mark off the inches with a pen or pencil.

Step 2: Draw

Decide what kind of design you want on your growth chart. The theme for Sadie's room is giraffe print so I went with a giraffe. You can either free hand draw your design or find a stencil. I found a picture of a giraffe online that I liked and free hand drew it.

Step 3: Paint

Decide what colors you want to paint your growth chart with. I went with pink and brown because those are the colors for Sadie's room. I also used acrylic paint. I think that paint is a little more sturdier and last longer. Paint your design.

Step 4: Finish the measuring

Use paint or a marker to make the inch lines darker and extend them as far out as you would like. Also, don't forget to write out the numbers for each "foot" (1ft, 2ft, 3ft, etc...)

Step 5: Finishing up

Because I used several different pieces of cardboard I decided to attach mine together with ribbon. Punch holes in the top and bottom corners of each piece that is going to be attached. Cut out ribbon in the length desired and tie each piece of cardboard together. If desired, punch a hole in the top piece of cardboard and tie a ribbon also for easy hanging.

Step 6: Hang your growth chart and admire your work!

I simply used a clear tac to hang the chart with and then I used one of the sticky pieces from those damage free hanging hooks to secure the bottom with. Stand back and enjoy your craftiness!!

Venice Beach

My sister pretty much had only one request while she was visiting, a beach day!! Now I have lived in California my whole life but had only really visited the Orange County beaches and, of course, my favorite beach ever Pismo!! But since we moved, we are very close to the LA beaches so I decided to look up a couple to check out. I found one called Point Dume Beach in Malibu and it sounded wonderful so I told my sister and she was good to check out that one. Well, she realized that we were also close to Venice Beach. She had never been there and neither had I but I knew what the beach was gonna be like. Nevertheless she wanted to check it out so we headed there last Saturday.

It was so crowded!! Last Saturday happened to be the nicest beach day of the year so of course everyone was there. It took us 45 mins just to get into a parking lot and park!! It was crazy but we decided to make the best of it. My sweet baby girl loves the beach just as much as her momma and it was so nice watching her play in the sand. My sis took her into the water when we got there and let's just say that she would have stayed in the water the whole time if we would've let her!!
